Thought This was Over..
Here's the scary part - let me quote a newsletter I got from www.FamilyWatchInternational.org:
This case has national implications as well. If the Supreme Court were to rule that homosexuals have a constitutional right to marry, it would at a stroke wipe out all the state marriage laws and state constitutional amendments in 41 states that now protect man/woman marriage in most of the U.S.. The only way to restore marriage following such a ruling would be to pass a federal constitutional amendment, a very difficult task at best.
Forget horror movies - I'm going to be thinking about THIS to keep me up at night... I know several moms who have started to redo their basements into mini schools because after this they've decided to home teach their kids no matter WHAT state they're in.
Go to www.FamilyWatchInternational.org to subscribe to their newsletter - its super informative and I love it.
And then the president of Family Watch International (Sharon Slater) just came out with a book called Stand for the Family. If anyone knows her stuff it's Sharon! She is the one who writes the newsletters and just a super stable lady. If you're able - I would order up! You can also get the book for free if you can get at least 50 people to sign the petition. That's a win-win right there! Its the website for her book and ALSO for the petition. You can go here: http://www.standforthefamily.org
Lets follow the counsel of the brethren and keep ourselves in the know. Sometimes I feel like this is a fight with the devil himself... Might as well read up on how to beat him in the modern world.

HUGE Win in Maine as Voters Reject
Same-sex Marriage!
Dear Jamie,
Sharon Slater, President
Family Watch International
Maine voters gave the effort to defend man/woman marriage a huge boost in Tuesday’s election when they decisively rejected the proposed law to legalize same-sex marriage in their state. With 87% of the state’s precincts reporting, the people’s veto referendum question was leading 53-47%. Maine political observers agreed that results from the remaining precincts to report would not change the outcome and called it a win for the people’s veto.
Despite being outspent by homosexual marriage proponents by at least 2 to 1, the Stand for Marriage Maine coalition (of which Family Watch International is a member) successfully educated Maine voters about the many negative impacts that legalizing same sex marriage would have and then effectively turned out marriage supporters at the polls to win.
This vote was especially historic because it is the first time anywhere that an attempt to impose same-sex marriage through the legislative process has gone to a direct vote of the people for the final verdict. The win in Maine extends the unbroken string of victories for traditional marriage whenever the people of a state have actually had a chance to vote on whether to protect it. This victory in Maine will have international impact as well as being extremely important in the fight to protect marriage here in the U.S.
Thanks to all of you who helped in any way. A special thanks to all the valiant pro-marriage supporters in Maine who put forth such a tremendous effort in defense of marriage for all of us.
Sincerely,
President

Let's help Maine!
Dear I Stand for the Family Member,
When Maine voters decide Question 1 this Tuesday it will be the first time in history that a proposed law to legalize homosexual marriage will go directly to the vote of the people. Current polls indicate that the battle over same-sex marriage in Maine is split evenly with 48 percent of voters for and 48 percent of voters against it.
Because the vote is dead even, the side that does the best job in turning out supporters will win. U.S. residents are urgently needed to make calls to pro-marriage voters to urge them to get out and vote. Calls can be made from anywhere in the U.S. The vote is THIS Tuesday (November 3rd) so we must act quickly.
Contact: fwi@familywatchinternational.org for more details on making calls from anywhere in the U.S. Just tell us you want to help and we will send you more information.
Please forward this e-mail to all your friends and invite them to join the group so we can make as many phone calls as possible.
Thank you for all you do to stand for the family!
Sincerely,
Julie Ann

We have just started a petition to protect marriage between a man and a woman and to save DOMA. At the end of the summer it will go to President Obama and Congress.

We love Miss California!
If you haven't heard the story then there's a good summary here. As well as an interview with her.
But I just wanted to get on here to say that I thought her answer was well spoken and honest.
She stood up for herself by not conforming to an idea that she didn't believe in.
I think people are starting to see more and more the hostility that can come off this issue.
And I'm so proud of her for staying with it.
We support Carrie Prejean and all that follow her sophisticated example. Thanks for being honest.

Next up to bat? Maine
"And it looks like they're poised to do just that. The gay rights organizations in the state and in New England have made it very clear that that's their desire, and that they have listed enough legislators as what they call marriage-friendly," he explains. "According to their claim, they have enough already on their side to overturn the law."
The Maine Marriage Alliance plans to wage a major battle in the legislature to stall the effort by homosexuals because it takes a simple majority vote to overturn the law, while it takes a two-thirds vote of both houses to put a constitutional amendment on the ballot.
Emrich calls the church the Alliance's best asset. "The church in the state of Maine is waking up to this issue, is seeing the urgency and realizing the need to be involved," he points out.
He believes it will take a huge grassroots push to keep homosexual marriage from being legalized in Maine.

Paul Bishop's article
It is staggering what is going on. I'll admit my hand covered my mouth through the whole article.
What a great guy to write this article! Thank you Paul Bishop!

Welcome!
We really appreciate all of those California supporters who did so much!
They're the kind of people that really make things happen, and it is awesome to watch!
Through this experience we've learned that, although we are happy to see Prop 8 passing now, this won't be the end of this issue.
Even now homosexual couples are looking to appeal what has just been passed.
We've learned that this is something we're going to have to deal with for the rest of our lives.
So we started this blog to compile all of the thoughts, clips, reports and pictures that we've found that remind us of the sacredness of marriage.
Below you'll find all of the clips and things that we've collected from Prop 8, and there are sure to be more in the future.
Welcome to the new blog!
Stop by again! ;)
